LCDs include Liquid crystal displays, LED, OLEDs< https://focuslcds.com/oled-display/> etc. The three main factors are:
Excessive temperatures, UV light and moisture(humidity). The more you can protect your display, the longer its life.

No. Another option is to use a transflective polarizer. The cost is a bit higher, but it is a good option for battery powered products.
