Re: What is a pixel

A pixel is made of three colors: red, green and blue. Each one of these colors is called a sub-pixel. The more pixels there are, the higher the resolution.

Re: what is a hertz in dealing with a refresh rate

a hertz is how often something is refreshed. It is similar to a duty cycle. The higher the hertz rate, the sharper the image on many displays.

Re: What is better for segment LCD: spi or 4:1

SPI and 4:1 is both good. one is not better than the other.

4:1 is lower cost, but cannot drive as many segments
SPI requires a controller/driver chip that increases its cost, but allows more segments to be driven and at a faster refresh rate than 4:1.

OLEDs require less power than a TFT, but in some cases they have a shorter half-life.

Re: should I choose TFT or IPS?

IPS is a type of TFT. TFTS need to be refreshed. The faster/higher the refresh rate, the sharper the contrast. Passive TFTs are refreshed sevearal times a second, where active TFTS have one TFT per pixel so that is it always refreshed. (Active) IPS is where there are more than one TFT per pixel to o...

Re: What is a Refresh Rate?

Refresh rate is a lot like duty cycle. How often it updates. There is a set number for refresh rate that matches the refresh of the human eye, so that people do not see a flicker.

Re: What is the difference between Low Refresh Rate and Monitor Flicker

There is no difference.

Monitor flicker is caused by a low refresh rate.
