Re: What is the max number of segments a custom lcd can handle
There really is no maximum number of segments. If you are using direct drive, such as a 1:1 mux or 4:1 mux, I would not suggest more than 100 segments. Here is a good article on driving direct. http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/AppNotes/doc2569.pdf If you need to drive more than 100 segments, I ...

Re: What is the pinout table on a character LCD
The pin out table is the connection between the character LCD (or any type of LCD including TFT, OLED etc.) to the customerss processor. On the character LCD, it includes power, signal, data etc. Here is a good link that explains what each pin on a character LCD does. https://circuitdigest.com/artic...

Re: how does a IPS-LCD work?
IPS makes use of two transistors for every pixel, unlike older active matrix TFTs that used us one transistor.
This provides a sharper image and a wider viewing angle.
IPS provides a sharper contrast and is brighter but draws more power and is more expensive.

Re: What is CSTN stand for
CSTN stands for Color super-twisted nematic display. it has been out for several years, but not as popular as TFTs and OLEDs. CSTN is a passive matrix, which means that the display is updated several times a minute. Not fast enough to provide as sharp as an image as an active matrix. CSTN/passive di...

Re: What is a Refresh Rate?
Refresh rate is how often the display is update. If the rate is set too low, the updating of the image is slower. People will see it as a flicker.

Re: What is active matrix?
an Active matrix is a flat-panel display in which the screen is refreshed more frequently than in passive-matrix displays. Active matrix require one transistor per pixel which increases the cost, but provides a sharper contrast.

Re: What is difference between LED and LCD?
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. The LED is like a light that needs to be on to be seen. It draws much more current than a LCD. The LCD is a liquid between two layers of glass and can be read during daylight without a backlight on. It is readable at night w...

No, I would guess that half of the TFTs are portrait and half are landscape.
