Re: What is difference between Storage and Opp temp?

Operating temperature is the temperature that the LCD will be operating in. That is the most critical. If the LCD is too cold, the display will become sluggish or not turn on. Storage temperature is wider than operating. This is the temperature range the LCD will withstand before it is damaged by co...

Re: What does VLED stand for

VLED stands for: Voltage of the LED. This is an independent voltage of the LCD itself. This is mainly seen on character https://focuslcds.com/product-category/character-lcd/ and segment types of display. VLED is independent of VLCD (Voltage of the LCD) so that the user can adjust the brightness of t...

Re: How do you adjust brightness of a LED backlight?

LED backlights are DC (Direct current) and their brightness can be adjusted by adjusting the current flow. This is done through changing the value of the resistor. Note: The brighter the backlight, the shorter it's half-life.

Re: drill a hole in the LCD

It is not recommended to drill holes in the PCB attached to the back of the LCD. The PCBs are multilayer and contain traces https://focuslcds.com/journals/to-drill-or-not-to-drill-the-lcd-displays/ on the other layers. Cutting or nicking a track could disable the LCD or make it prone to failure late...

Re: Why are the jumpers for on the LCD?

Many types of LCDs such as Character and monochrome graphic contain a PCB. On the PCB are jumper settings that are used to adjust the brightness of a LED backlight through a resistor, or to reverse polarity of a LED backlight and in some cases adjust the contrast of the display.

Re: What is the lead time of a custom segment LCD?

Almost all segment displays are custom https://focuslcds.com/segment-lcd/ . Which means there is a one time tooling fee (NRE) that once paid, you do not need to pay for again every time you order production samples. Lead times from around 6 to 7 weeks for samples and 6 to 7 weeks for production. You...

Re: Do OLEDs need a backlight?

OLEDs are emissive display that do not require a backlight and so are thinner and more efficient than LCD displays (which do require a white backlight).
