I can’t say without knowing the product and the environment etc.
There are two common types of touch panels: Resistive and Capacitive.
This is a very short overview, but here it goes.
Resistive (RTP):
Most RTP overlays only allow one touch at a time. The main advantage is that any item can activate it. A pencil eraser, finger, tip of a credit card etc.
Capacitive (CTP):
This is what is used on phones and tablets. CTP allows multi-touch, zoom, scroll etc. Most only respond to a finger or a stylus.
