What happens to the LCD when its temp exceeds the rated value?

LCD = Liquid Crystal Display. Which means there is liquid between the layers of glass. When this liquid gets too hot, it becomes black and looks like spilled ink. When the temperature returns to normal operating temperature, the display will start to work again.
