There are many display technologies that work well outside.

If you don't need multi-color and you need to save power (runs on batteries), a monochrome segment or character display will work. They do well down to -25C. If you need to go below that, you can add a heater.

Also, monochrome works very well in direct sunlight. If you need to read it at night, add a LED backlight.

If you need multi-color, there are two options: TFT https://focuslcds.com/product-category/tft-display/ and OLED.

OLED will operate to a colder temperature than a TFT, but the supply and demand of OLEDs make them prone to be discontinued.

Over all, TFTs work well down to -20C and -30C without a heater.
