Is it still possible to order LCDs with a EL backlight?
Yes, but why? The main advantage of a EL ( Electroluminescent) <https://focuslcds.com/journals/el-backl ... ting-edge/> backlight is that it provided even glow across the glass, but a good diffuser can be used now to give an even glow to a LED backlight.
EL has a short half life and needs AC power.
