adjusting contrast on a character LCD

Post by GIR1225 » Tue Oct 23, 2018 6:05 pm

I am trying to adjust the contrast on a character LCD with a pot.

Does the instructions below work?

Connect one pin of the pot to +3.3V or 5V and the other to Ground. this can be reversed and it will still work. The middle pin is connected to pin three of the character LCD.

Yes, correct

the middle pin of the pot, called the wiper, must be connected to pin 3 of the character LCD. The other two pins can connect to 3/5v or ground, in any order. Here is a data sheet https://focuslcds.com/content/C162LLBFK ... B_Spec.pdf of a character LCD that shows the contrast pin.

Like most of the ProTrack settings, contrast for the LCD is stored in the flash memory. How often do you have to reset it?

On a character LCD, and other LCDs, R/W stands for Read Write for talking between the LCD and the Arm or pic or processor.
