What does DB0 and DB 1 stand for?

What does DB0 and DB 1 stand for?
On my character LCD, there are eight connections. Labeled DB0, DB1, BD2. What do these stand for?

DB stands for Data bit. There are normally 8 data bits on a graphic or character LCD. It is possible to use just four data bits to save the number of I/O's you have.
