Can you increase tft brightness?
Is it possible to make a TFT brighter for reading in the sun?
Re: Can you increase tft brightness?
Yes, TFTS can be made brighter. There are a few ways to accomplish this.
First, TFTs provide 64K or 64M colors and many can display video. But they don't do very well in direct sunlight.
If you need a TFT to be readable in direct light, you can order a transflecive https://focuslcds.com/journals/transfle ... cd-module/ display, but the cost if much higher.
It is possible to increase the back-light by adding more LEDs or by using PWM. One disadvantage of a brighter TFT is that it requires more power and drains batteries faster.
A TFT needs to be at least 700 nits bright to be seen in the sun.
A Nit is the amount of light produced by one candle.
