LED backlights, as used on Character, Segment and graphic displays, are measured in half-life.
The half-life is how many hours it is on before it is half as bright or at 50% brightness.
The lower the driving current of the LED backlight, the longer the half life.
Halflife is not the amount of time before it burns out.
